The Cliff House sits in one of the most spectacular settings imaginable….1100 feet above sea level. The views are breathtaking; vast expanses of the Caribbean Sea spread endlessly into the horizon. The surface is only broken by the mountains of St Martin, St. Barth, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts’ and Nevis and sometimes even Montserrat is visible beyond. This is the perfect place to sit and simply incorporate the Earth’s beauty.
Designed and built by a retired American military engineer in the mid-70s, Cliff House reflects traditional Saban architecture thoughtfully interpreted in solid masonry and wood. There is more than enough property to add a pool, spa or expand the house itself.
The entrance to the cottage is through a traditional wooden Dutch door trimmed in white and red that adds a charming Old World Caribbean flavor and complement the traditional red roof. A beautiful native stone walled courtyard surrounds the entry to the cottage. Expansive decks, overlooking the sea and the verdant mountains, provide ample entertaining and relaxation spaces. It is very, very private here; as if you were in your own tropical oasis. It is peaceful yet the amenities of Windwardside Village are easily accessible.
The interiors are oversized for Saba; the rooms are large and spacious with high ceilings. Light fills the spaces. The airy great room opens to the terrace for an easy flow. The views through the windows and doors are simply beautiful. A galley kitchen provides generous counter space. The home’s master bedroom is 15’ x 20’ with an en suite bathroom and oversized closet.
The house has only had two owners in it 40+ years. Each couple has loved this location, the house and Saba. Cliff House has so many features that make Saba so special; amazing views, peace and solitude, tropical gardens and charm. All you need to make this remarkable home your own is to arrive with a vision.
